Compelling Insights on Oil, Iraq, the Economy & Politics

GOP LANDSLIDE 2008
The Democrats are dead wrong on every major issue
The Democrats largely created America's major problems
The Democrats are offering demagoguery, not credible solutions
The Democrat agenda is a formula for an economic disaster
The Democrat advantage is a house of cards grounded in deceit
Barack Obama is completely unqualified to be President
Barack Obama is clueless on the substance of the issues
The GOP is losing on leadership & communication, not substance
A HUGE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE GOP

Conventional wisdom and polling have the Republicans on a fast track to an election catastrophe in 2008 so the concept of a GOP landslide this November seems beyond far fetched.  However, the Democrat's self-destructive agenda and their reckless and irresponsible pandering and demagoguery on Iraq, terrorism, national security, the economy, energy prices, global warming and health care offers the GOP a huge opportunity to devastate the Democrat party in 2008.  All the Republicans have to do is find the intellect, the energy, the imagination and the communication skills to hang the Democrats with the political noose they have eagerly placed around their own necks in their blind quest for absolute political power.

This assertion is grounded in facts, logic, reality and common sense rather that the empty imagery, deceit, distortions and false assertions being offered by the Democrats.  The Democrats seriously believe the path to victory in 2008 lies in deceiving and dividing voters along racial and economic class lines rather than uniting and educating them about the true substance of the serious challenges all Americans face together.

The bottom line is that many voters intensely dislike Republicans because of their governing and communication ineptitude that has allowed false perceptions to take hold that place the blame for high energy prices and the slow economy on the Republicans.  In truth, the Democrat Congress largely created the problems with their pacifist/socialist agenda, and they are not offering ANY credible solutions to the major issues that most concern Americans.

A careful review of the facts points to the reality that the Democrat agenda is a formula for an economic and national security catastrophe that could hardly be more destructive to America if it were designed by Osama Bin Laden.
Despite this reality, misperceptions persist in many voters minds because:
  • The Democrats control the big media that is engaged in an unprecedented disinformation and demagoguery campaign on behalf of the Democrats.
  • Republicans have completely failed to effectively  attack the Democrat's demagoguery and pandering on the issues, or offer a compelling vision for the future that also exposes the major flaws in the Democrat agenda that would make everything a lot worse.
Despite this prevailing perceptions of their impending victory, the Democrat's are dead wrong on all the major issues.   Unfortunately for America, no Republican leader so far has seized the opportunity to expose the disastrous consequences of Democrat's agenda, and offer credible solutions that would address the problems all Americans face together.

Americans want strong leadership that understands the issues, that offers credible solutions and that can effectively explain credible reasons for their policies in terms all Americans can understand.  The Republicans are the only ones who can offer this profile if they have the courage and the common sense to forcefully burst the Democrat bubble of deceit, false imagery and distortions that have successfully manipulated voter opinions so far.  The Democrat advantage today is a huge house of cards waiting to be toppled if only the Republicans would shake off their passivity and go on the attack.

If you believe the above assertions are hyperbole, please consider the following facts and realities that favor the Republicans in 2008:

  • GOP Opportunity #1 - Barack Obama
The Democrats are about to nominate Barack Obama as their Presidential candidate.  By any objective standard, he will be among the most unqualified party nominees for President in American history.  He has no significant legislative accomplishments or political or business or executive leadership track record.  He does have a lengthy track record of associating with racists, extremists, shady characters and radical anti-Americans.   Virtually every assertion he makes on national security or economics or health care or energy reflects reckless naivete or alarming ignorance about the substance of the issues or the devastating economic consequences of his misguided policy positions.
Obama's only claim to the Presidency arises from his acclaimed, media hyped oratory that promises change and an end to politics as usual even though he offers no track record or specifics to support his claim, and his actions relentlessly contradict his assertions.  He claims to be a uniter even as he aggressively uses divisive, racist and socialist economic class warfare tactics to further his candidacy.

In substance, Obama's candidacy is little more than a charismatic personality cult scheme that places America's future in grave jeopardy in the name of his personal ambitions, and his empty mantra of undefined change for the sake of change.  His whole political theme cynically plays to people's economic hardships and their worst instincts rather than their best judgment in the belief that voters in distress are ignorant enough to embrace false imagery and demagoguery over experience and substantive solutions to the issues.  The worst part is that Obama's reckless agenda would wreck the economy, and the lower and middle income voters he professes to champion would suffer the worst consequences.

The list of Obama's negatives is too voluminous to summarize here so please visit the "Barack Obama" tab on this website for a comprehensive review that offers compelling insights that would destroy his hollow candidacy if every American understood the true consequences of his agenda.
  • GOP Opportunity #2 - Iraq

The Democrats advocate an unconditional removal of American forces from Iraq that would unleash chaos and a human disaster in Iraq while ideally positioning Iran and/or Al Qaeda to threaten the weak Arab regimes and global access to Middle East oil.  In their blind quest for absolute political power, the Democrats ignore the fact that the removal of 160,000 USA security forces from Iraq would threaten Iraqi oil exports, embolden Iran and Al Qaeda, imperil global access to Middle East oil and trigger an explosion in oil prices that would dwarf the huge increases in oil costs that have been devastating the American economy.

  • To justify their Iraq withdrawal insanity, the Democrats absurdly assert that 25,000 residual American troops should be able to control Al Qaeda and Iranian ambitions in Iraq even though 150,000 American troops have struggled to achieve that goal for five years.
They further claim that America needs to abandon Iraq to focus on more important challenges from Russia, Iran, Venezuela and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.  The Democrats make this absurd assertion even though every one of those adversaries is hoping that America will abandon Iraq to chaos that will trigger a huge oil price explosion that will fill their coffers with more cash to challenge America, that will wreck the American economy, and that will allow them to achieve their destructive Middle East and global ambitions at America's expense.

The Democrats further champion the false notion that the USA cannot continue to waste $125 billion per year in Iraq that could be better spent on domestic priorities.  They assert this even though abandoning Iraq would spawn a huge increase in oil costs that would dwarf the $125 billion annual cost of staying.  Oil prices would only have to rise by $17 per barrel to offset the $125 billion annual cost of the Iraq mission, and they would rise by many multiples of $17 if the USA abandons Iraq and the Middle East to chaos.
An unconditional American retreat from Iraq is the dream scenario of the USA's worst enemies and yet it is the stated policy of the Democrat Party!
Unfortunately, the Republicans have played into the Democrat's hands by only focusing on the national security aspects of the Iraq debate rather than exposing the economic disaster that would unfold if the USA abandons Iraq to chaos that triggers a huge further increase in oil prices that would devastate the American economy.  All the Republicans have to do is help Americans recognize that their personal financial well being is at stake in Iraq, and the $5 per person per month that 75% of Americans are investing in Iraq is a very small price to pay to insure their financial well being from huge further oil price increases that would wreck the economy.
  • GOP Opportunity #3 - Al Qaeda
It is beyond any rational dispute that Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist brethren are praying at least four times a day that Obama and his Democrat cohorts will win in November and:
    • Take America back to a disastrous, reactive, pre 9/11 legalistic mentality to dealing with Al Qaeda that believes terrorism is a crime to be prosecuted rather than a scourge to be preempted, and defeated on its home turf.
    • Abandon Iraq to chaos that will hand Al Qaeda a huge victory, and allow Al Qaeda to take up residence on the Saudi/Kuwaiti border where they can join forces with their radical Wahabi brethren inside Saudi to undermine the royal regimes.
    • Allow Al Qaeda free reign to attack Iraqi oil infrastructure that exports 2.5 million barrels per day of oil that represents the marginal difference between global oil supply and demand.  Any material interruption of Iraqi oil exports would trigger a huge further increase in oil prices that would fill the pockets of Al Qaeda's financial sponsors with more cash to fund their terrorist operations while wrecking the American economy.
The truth is that Osama completely understands America's huge economic vulnerability to high oil prices, and Obama does not.  In fact, Osama and Obama both have a plan to destroy the American economy.  The only difference is that the former understands what he is doing and the latter does not.  All the Republicans have to do is tell the voters the truth.

  • GOP Opportunity #4 - Energy Prices
Oil prices have risen from $59 per barrel when the Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007 to over $140 per barrel today in direct response to the increasing likelihood that Democrats will win in November and abandon Iraq to chaos that will trigger a massive oil price increase.  Therefore, the Democrat's irresponsible Iraq retreat policy is directly responsible for most of the $600 BILLION increase in the USA's annual oil costs that approximates the cost of the whole Pentagon budget!!  This huge increase in oil costs is the primary factor in the economic slowdown that is causing financial distress for many Americans.

America imports about 13 million barrels of oil each DAY as a direct result of the Democrats long term opposition to nuclear power, clean coal power, ANWR drilling, USA offshore drilling, oil shale drilling and investing in Iraqi oil export capacity that could collectively increase oil production and reduce consumption of foreign oil.  Therefore, the Democrats are directly responsible for America's huge reliance on oil and oil imports and the huge recent increase in oil prices.

So far, the Democrat's only responses to the oil price crisis have been to:
  • Continue to oppose all the above energy production alternatives.
  • Demagogue the USA big oil companies that only control about 1.5% of global oil reserves and cannot set global oil prices that have risen because of Democrat self destructive policies on Iraq and domestic energy production.
  • Pursue a "windfall" profits tax on USA oil companies that would reduce the funds available for oil drilling and alternative energy development to increase supply.
  • Welcome high oil prices as a means to reduce carbon energy emissions to solve a man made global warming problem that does not exist while accelerating the conversion to "green" energy alternatives that do not exist.
  • Demagogue the Republicans policies on energy even though the Democrats created the oil dependence and price problem and have resisted every serious method to solve it.
  • Enjoy the economic distress created by high oil prices that is fueling their political momentum.
In truth, the Democrats have no solutions to the oil price problem because they like it and look forward to the huge further increases in oil prices that should reduce carbon emissions while allowing them to collect much higher income tax revenues from oil companies that they can use to buy off voting constituencies to support them.  In the Democrat's mad quest for absolute political power, they are blind to the economic devastation that much higher oil prices will cause and that will be their full responsibility.  The deep economic recession they create would ultimately earn them the crushing political defeat they so richly deserve, but, in the mean time, Americans would pay a terrible economic price for trusting self-serving Democrats with their economic future.

All the Republicans have to do is expose the above realities to all Americans who are suffering the financial effects of high oil prices.
  • GOP Opportunity #5 - The Economy
In an historic display of unmitigated gall, the Democrats are having a field day bashing the Republicans over the economic slow down even though the USA economy was booming until eight months AFTER the Democrats took over Congress in January 2007.  GDP growth was at a 5% annual rate in the third quarter of 2007, and deteriorated rapidly after that as a direct result of:
  • Huge increases in oil costs triggered by the Democrat's demands for an unconditional retreat from Iraq.
  • The Democrats demands for higher taxes that would reduce investor returns while sapping consumer spending dollars and the sources of capital investment that drive economic growth.
  • The Democrat's calls for higher social spending and a costly universal health care plan at the precise moment that millions of baby boomers are retiring and placing huge financial strains on Federal government.
When voters made the mistake of electing Democrat Congress, the economy was booming, the mortgage, banking, real estate and stock markets were thriving and oil prices were 42% of what they are today and Americans were paying over $600 BILLION less for oil each year.  The economy desperately needs lower taxes, lower government spending and lower oil prices, but the Democrats are offering the exact opposite.  Therefore, the economy will only get a lot worse if American voters cave to their disillusionment with Republicans and hand Democrats the absolute political power they crave.  It would be Jimmy Carter all over again only a lot worse because the stakes are much higher today.
In reality, the Democrats do not have a cohesive, rational economic growth policy.  They have a series of reckless and independent policy positions on issues that are designed to pander to special interest voting groups regardless of their very negative effects on the economy.
Once again, all the Republicans have to do is educate voters about the facts, offer credible solutions and expose the folly of the Democrat agenda.

  • GOP Opportunity #6 - Health Care
The Democrats want to enact as massive and costly new universal health care entitlement that is completely crazy for the following reasons:
  • The economy is near recession and millions of baby boomers are retiring and placing an ever increasing financial strain on the federal government.
  • Medicare will begin paying out more in benefits 2008 than it collects in taxes.
  • Social security will begin paying out more in benefits 2017 than it is taking in in taxes.
  • Democrats cannot begin to estimate the cost of universal health care and the federal government is notoriously inaccurate in making such estimates. "Free" health care will cause millions of people to use more health care services than they do now at huge costs to taxpayers.
  • Democrats want to finance universal health care with huge new taxes on the 25% of "rich" Americans who are already paying 86% of personal federal income taxes. This is unAmerican wealth redistribution that is opposed by over 80% of Americans according to a new Gallup poll.
  • Obama's "universal healthcare" is  a hugely costly "white elephant", government entitlement program that would dwarf the cost of Social Security and Medicare programs that are already straining the credit rating of the USA. Once "free" health care is passed, it cannot be reversed, and it will place an enormous financial burden on future generations.
  • Government run Medicare is already reducing pay outs to doctors and hospitals that will make them reject older patients. Universal healthcare will reduce provider choices for patients and risks a massive loss of future, high quality medical providers who will seek other more lucrative professions than medicine.
The huge financial problems with Medicare and Social Security are the direct result of failed socialist ideas that were created by Democrats, and yet the Democrats want America to pursue a costly, socialist universal healthcare entitlement that would risk the financial and credit standing of the USA at a time when the U.S. dollar is already plummeting.  All the Republicans have to do is lay out the facts to voters in terms they can grasp.
  • GOP Opportunity #7 - Taxes
The Democrat's solution to every economic problem is a government program or hand out funded by an unAmerican, socialist tax increase on "rich" Americans who are already paying 86% of personal Federal income taxes.  Democrats expect these tax increases on the "rich" to pay for:

    • Handouts, health care and education for the poor
    • Tax cuts for the "overburdened" middle class who are only paying 12% of personal Federal income taxes
    • Carbon taxes to fix a man made global warming problem that does not exist
    • Handouts to the NEA, unions and trial lawyers for their political support
    • More useless and costly ethanol subsidies to farmers for their support
    • Giving citizenship and full food stamps, Medicare, health care and social security benefits to 15 million illegal aliens in exchange for their long term voting support
    • Fixing the Medicare/social security financial debacle
    • Dubious "clean" energy initiatives that have no hope of materially reducing the 21 million barrels of oil America consumes every day
    • Balancing the Federal budget.
